What I do

Performer • Educator • Facilitator

Artist mental Health Advocate

Dan has been involved in the performing arts since his youth. After a move to New York City from Manila, Philippines in 1987, Dan has been privileged to grow and experience an arts career both nationally and internationally, performing in shows, concerts and festivals in the States, Poland, Germany, France and Italy under mentorship with Shelley Jameson (New York City Opera, Washington Opera), and Joel Jameson (Houston Grand Opera, Minnesota Opera, Caramoor Festival). Dan is a legacy of the studio Grammy award-winning soprano, Esther B. Hinds, and the studio of Dr. Stanley L. Ralph.

In 2020-2021, when the arts industry halted due to pandemic, Dan used the downtime to go back to the basics, falling into the caring hands of premier international artist, founder, and proprietor of Meisner Studio Manila, Angeli Bayani, completing training in Fundamentals Of Acting and Meisner Technique. Inspired to continue, he connected with performer and Sightlines Actors’ Space Community founder, Alecx Lorica, and completed his second Meisner program. He continued his Meisner study, obtaining his Meisner in Music Teacher Training certification, and his full certification as a Designated Meisner Teacher.

Dan’s fascination with the aspects of the Meisner approach, its repetition exercise’s impact and functionality in Acting and Mental Health, and its effects on the cross-cultural aspects of a newly globalized acting ecosystem led him to pursue formal academics, taking on advanced studies at Yale University and The University of Toronto, focusing on Artist Mental Health coordination and facilitation.

I ran the light board for Les Mis on Broadway over the years. Dan’s Valjean is worthy of being with any of the best Valjeans I have ever seen. It was a joy running the light board all those nights just to hear him sing.
